Held simultaneously across various Jobstreet offices in Jakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, Jogja, and Bandung, the event’s theme, "Building a Strong Ecosystem to Unlock #NextMill1onJobs for Indonesia," resonated strongly with both job seekers and employers. This nationwide initiative aligns with the Next Million Jobs campaign that Jobstreet launched in late 2024, aimed at addressing the pressing issue of job availability across the country, especially in areas outside Java where job opportunities are more limited.

Key figures who graced the event included Peter Bithos, Group Executive, Commercial Officer at SEEK across the Asia Pacific, who expressed the company’s deep commitment to Indonesia’s economic growth. "Today, we give back to you. Today is for you and your teams. This is part of our long-term commitment," said Bithos. He also emphasized that Jobstreet strives to make job hiring easier by providing businesses with tools to post job vacancies without additional costs, which would otherwise be a burden for smaller companies with limited budgets.

 

Varun Mehta, COO of Jobstreet Indonesia, shared some powerful insights, "We are here to move Indonesia forward with you. Indonesia represents the largest economic growth across our Southeast Asia markets." He also highlighted how Jobstreet has integrated cutting-edge AI features into its platform to enhance job matching and improve recruitment efficiency.

 

Jobstreet's New Freemium Model

The Freemium model introduced at the event is designed to democratize access to recruitment platforms, especially for SMEs in Indonesia. Through this initiative, Jobstreet allows businesses to create job postings for free and only pay for the performance-based results, such as applicant engagement and successful matches. Wisnu Dharmawan, Sales Director at Jobstreet Indonesia, outlined the benefits of this new model: "Today, we are introducing Freemium, a combination of all benefits from various channels. The platform allows businesses to create free job ads and pay for performance-based results." This innovation is expected to not only boost the efficiency of job listings but also make recruitment more accessible for businesses across the archipelago.

 

In addition to free job ads, the platform’s new AI-powered features make it easier for employers to find qualified candidates by offering smarter recommendations based on the company’s hiring needs. Jobstreet aims to bridge the gap between businesses, especially UMKMs (small and medium enterprises), and the tech solutions needed to modernize their hiring processes. Mehta also emphasized the challenges faced by businesses outside Java, where only 22% of job seekers currently come from, and how this platform offers solutions to these challenges.

 

The Role of Influencers: Reza Rahadian and the Campaign's Cultural Impact

Reza Rahadian, one of Indonesia’s most popular actors and a brand ambassador for Jobstreet, also shared his thoughts on the importance of this initiative. “When I participate in a campaign, I need to truly understand its purpose, and I found something really positive in the #NextMill1onJobs campaign,” said Rahadian. His heartfelt message resonated with the audience, especially in a country like Indonesia, where millions of young professionals are looking for better job opportunities. "For those who may not have the same opportunities as others, but are willing to work hard and bring their ideas to life, we have to make sure they know they can achieve their goals with the right tools."
